Tips for Slab Foundation Repair

Slab foundations can sag and settle over time. Slab foundation repair helps to fix foundations that are decaying, and 'lift' the property, which can help to stop the walls and roof from being damaged. Mud jacking is often used to lift settled slab foundations, but it can be a messy procedure, so it is best used for homes that are unoccupied.

Austin slab foundation repair piers are usually pushed into the ground and driven into place, then the house is lifted with a hydraulic jack.  The hydraulic jack will point-load the slab, and this can cause the slab to crack quite easily. The slab piers are expensive, so this can be a problem. There are a few different choices for pier types, with different shapes having different chances of cracking and different abilities to support weight.  Remember to fill the voids under the floor, so that the foundation does not shift again. Slab foundation replacement can be done in extreme cases, but  it is a very expensive way of repairing foundations and it can cause its own problems if the other parts of the property are not properly braced while the concrete is removed and then put back into place.
